Journey to Koltur
Your journey begins at the port of Gamlarætt on the island of Streymoy, where our comfortable shuttle boat awaits. Enjoy a scenic 20-minute ride across Hestfjørð, where you may spot seabirds like puffins gliding over the waves. As you approach Koltur, the ancient settlement of Heima í Húsi will come into view, hinting at the timeless stories hidden within the island.
Unwind and Explore
Once ashore, take a moment to cleanse your shoes at the disinfectant station to protect the island’s ecosystem. After that, you are free to explore Koltur’s natural beauty at your own pace. Whether you prefer a peaceful walk up to the island’s highest peak, a refreshing dip at the white sandy beach, or simply relaxing with a packed picnic while taking in the views, Koltur offers something for everyone.

The boat departs from Gamlarætt Marina on the island of Streymoy. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure. -
Departure Time:
The evening tour usually departs at 10:30 AM (check specific dates for evening departures). -
Duration:
The total tour duration is approximately 4 hours, including the boat trip and time on the island. -
Clothing and Gear:
- Dress warmly, as weather conditions on Koltur can change rapidly.
- Windbreaker and sturdy footwear are highly recommended.
- Bring a towel if you plan to swim at the island’s white sandy beach.
- Layered clothing to adjust to varying temperatures.
- A warm jacket, hat, and gloves for the cooler evening hours.
- A small backpack for your personal belongings.
- A packed meal, a thermos of coffee or tea, and a water bottle.
